An eastbound trip from Toronto through Kingston, Ottawa and Montreal, then across Vermont to Boston. Four big stops and two quiet ones, with one border crossing.
This route starts in Toronto and runs east along Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence to Montreal, then crosses the border into Vermont. It passes through Canada's capital and a historic lake port before the French-speaking streets of Montreal, and it finishes in Boston. It suits people moving, visiting family or crossing for work.
You cross the border once, south of Montreal, so carry passports and any vehicle papers and allow extra time at the crossing. Winter driving here needs proper tires and a flexible schedule. Late spring through fall is the easiest window. Give Ottawa and Montreal two nights each, because both are worth more than a quick look.
